影片設(shè)定在當下的柏林，女主角溫蒂妮是一名城市發(fā)展局的顧問。她的現(xiàn)任男友忽然提出分手，此時一個古老的詛咒似乎正要應(yīng)驗。中世紀的傳說里，溫蒂妮是水中的精靈，倘若與她們結(jié)合的男人背叛了她們，她們就會殺死男人并回歸水中。電影的女主角想要抵抗這一詛咒，故而離開了柏林。此時她結(jié)識了克里斯多弗，一名在德國西部水庫區(qū)工作的工業(yè)潛水員。兩人相愛。不久后克里斯多弗察覺到，溫蒂妮似乎在逃離什么，感覺受到了背叛...
