 這是一位始終以兩性關(guān)系、婚姻道德為主題的電影作者，這部獲得奧斯卡最佳外語(yǔ)片的《掏出你的手帕》也不在例外。關(guān)于影片，布里耶是這樣解釋的：“表面上看這是一部怪誕的電影，但實(shí)際上這是一部徹底顛倒道德標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的片子，不過(guò)表現(xiàn)得比較委婉且具有魅力。如果仔細(xì)觀察就可以看出，所有的道德價(jià)值都被顛倒了，所有的道德傳統(tǒng)都被拋到了一邊。人物的思想狀態(tài)正處于一種極端混亂的時(shí)期，今天你也許還不會(huì)把妻子當(dāng)作禮物送給別人，但也許將來(lái)你就可以做到了。”

All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
