阿格內(nèi)塔是個色彩鮮明且幽默的人，但表面上并不明顯。她剛滿49歲，孩子們已經(jīng)離巢，交通辦公室的工作停滯不前，阿格內(nèi)塔感到自己像個透明人。而她的丈夫則通過泡冰水澡和穿著昂貴裝備快速騎行找到了生活的意義。為了逃離日常生活的枯燥枷鎖，阿格內(nèi)塔離開了安全的瑞典生活，去法國為一位瑞典男孩做保姆。然而，當男孩艾納爾其實是一位年邁古怪的瘋狂紳士時，誤會成了事實。這成為一段混亂而充滿生命力的友誼的開始，徹底顛覆了阿格妮塔對生活和自我的認知。因為一個人到底怎么能活出自己寶貴的生命呢？

All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
