The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

貝蒂·戴維斯,保羅·亨雷德,克勞德·雷恩斯,格拉黛絲·庫珀夏洛特（貝蒂·戴維斯 Bette Davis 飾）已經(jīng)能算得上是一個(gè)老姑娘了，她梳著呆板的發(fā)型，穿著保守的服裝，性格也古里古怪的，更糟糕的是，她似乎還染上了酗酒的壞毛病。在家人的建議之下，夏洛特決定踏上治療心靈的旅途，登上了駛往遠(yuǎn)方的游輪。在游輪上，夏洛特邂逅了名為杰瑞（保羅·亨雷德 Paul Henreid 飾）的男子，并且在誤打誤撞之中和杰瑞的女兒結(jié)下了深厚的友誼。很快，夏洛特就感到自己墜入了情網(wǎng)之中，然而，此時(shí)的杰瑞并不是自由身，他有這一段無法結(jié)束的婚姻。心碎的夏洛特選擇了離開，而夏洛特的母親也在不久之后撒手人寰。

李心潔,黃秋生,陳冠希,葛民輝,林家棟,梁家輝記者玲（李心潔飾）的男友Peter獲得一宗刑事案件的新聞線報(bào)，前去取證途中突然遭遇交通事故意外身亡。玲覺得事有蹊蹺，調(diào)查后發(fā)現(xiàn)一宗模特命案。女模特Helen裸死于家中浴缸，富豪之子張承志沒有不在場(chǎng)證據(jù)，但事件竟被警方低調(diào)處理，張承志的相關(guān)證據(jù)也被消除。玲為不愿男友枉死，誓要調(diào)查出事件真相，但報(bào)社總編輯曾達(dá)時(shí)（梁家輝飾）卻不愿為玲伸出援手。無奈之下，玲只好求助常常被追債的飛(黃秋生飾)與馬仔(葛民灰)幫助她調(diào)查真相。飛原來是警察出身，在調(diào)查中，他發(fā)現(xiàn)Peter的死因確有蹊蹺。隨著調(diào)查的進(jìn)行，黑暗中的黑手不斷想將玲置于死地，究竟事件的真相能否登上報(bào)紙的A1頭條？真相與言論自由的賽跑，在香港的午夜開始。
