研究所的所長在反鎖的密室逝世，兇手沒有留下頭緒，也不知他怎么逃離現(xiàn)場。因升職沒有希望心胸仇恨的研究員楊文安正本嫌疑最大，但在這天他在東坪州野火會(huì)中向陶美芝求婚，因此有滿足的依據(jù)證明他不在現(xiàn)場。第二宗兇殺案的死者是準(zhǔn)備代表香港參與奧運(yùn)的風(fēng)之后。她身后其座位由李秀朗替代。警方一度置疑她是兇手，但案發(fā)時(shí)她不在香港。正本兩宗命案風(fēng)馬牛不相干，但美芝曾在機(jī)場看見文安與秀朗在一起，其時(shí)她不知秀朗是誰，但兇案發(fā)生后，秀朗變成風(fēng)頭人物，文安也保藏了她當(dāng)封面的雜志。吃醋令美芝并當(dāng)記者的舊同學(xué)梅正平偵辦文安與秀朗的奸情，但不久文安竟然成為兇案的受害者，而美芝亦墮入被滅口的危機(jī). 某夜，陶美芝.秀朗去香港公干的時(shí)機(jī)，趁機(jī)與秀朗的男友楊文安喝酒。在酒精的催化下，陶美芝與楊文安舊情復(fù)燃。一夜糾纏后，楊文安卷入了陶美芝的兇案詭計(jì)圈套中
