冬日的夜里，律師米歇爾（伊安?霍姆 Ian Holm 飾）在某洗車(chē)房洗車(chē)時(shí)，接到了嗑藥女兒佐伊打來(lái)的電話，言語(yǔ)間暴露了父女之間理念上的矛盾。懷著一腔悶氣的米歇爾，又遭遇了洗車(chē)時(shí)車(chē)門(mén)打不開(kāi)的尷尬，最后只能憤然棄車(chē)，揚(yáng)長(zhǎng)而去。此前，在飛機(jī)上，米歇爾曾邂逅女兒的昔日好友艾莉森，并跟他講述了父女分崩離析的原因…… 米歇爾在小鎮(zhèn)上目睹了一起車(chē)禍現(xiàn)場(chǎng)，那個(gè)載有學(xué)齡兒童的校車(chē)因躲避來(lái)車(chē)意外翻車(chē)掉進(jìn)了湖里，導(dǎo)致很多家庭失去了親生骨肉。米歇爾在探訪中接觸到了各式各樣的家庭，有的父女畸形戀，有的酗酒暴力，有的疾病纏身。為了幫助他們向政府討要撫恤金，律師走上了一條坎坷的助人為樂(lè)之路…… 本片獲第50屆戛納電影節(jié)評(píng)委會(huì)大獎(jiǎng)。?豆瓣
