　　叉燒（鄭丹瑞飾）是一個(gè)不務(wù)正業(yè)的小青年，整體裝神弄鬼騙錢。一天，叉燒的一個(gè)租客——在夜總會(huì)當(dāng)媽媽桑的大B（葉德嫻飾）的家里來了一個(gè)客人，她美麗的外甥女云云（邱淑貞飾）。大B用盡千方百計(jì)將美麗的云云哄到夜總會(huì)當(dāng)舞女，想著從她身上大賺一筆。一個(gè)晚上，黑社會(huì)老大炮哥到夜總會(huì)消遣時(shí)遇到了云云，炮哥垂涎她的美色，找人把云云捉走了。怎知誰也料不到云云這個(gè)弱女子竟然擁有超能力——會(huì)噴火，關(guān)鍵時(shí)候她用自己的超能力脫身了。不久叉燒就得知了云云的這個(gè)本領(lǐng)，于是，一個(gè)壞主意計(jì)上心頭……

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
