女警阿玲（舒淇 飾）身邊有一對兒癡狂的追求者，但她的心思在那個夢中搭救她的白衣男子身上。好友祖兒（陳逸寧 飾）得到了一份前往馬來西亞拍攝廣告的工作，心情不佳的阿玲隨同旅行。介紹祖兒工作的波比陳（林雪 飾）為人輕浮好色，暗中還是黑市交易中間人，波比陳正籌劃從大哥潘（任達華 飾）手中引進飛彈導航系統(tǒng)，而這一交易，被兩名私家偵探華哥（許紹雄 飾）和埃里克斯（安志杰 飾）伺機破壞。埃里克斯誤會阿玲是波比陳的交易對象，而阿玲則認為埃里克斯是自己的夢中英雄，兩人懷著不同的目的開始交往。另一方面，香港小賊阿蟹（杜汶澤 飾）盲打誤撞破壞了波比陳和大哥潘的交易，幾路人馬陷入了沖突和誤會……

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
