20世紀(jì)40年代，戰(zhàn)爭陰影籠罩全世界。日本某個山村，壯年男子黑川久藏（大西信滿 飾）應(yīng)征入伍，歸來時卻變成了截去四肢、半邊臉燒傷、耳聾嘴啞的廢人。他的妻子茂子（寺島忍 飾）無法接受這個事實(shí)，幾欲自殺。不過久藏卻被村民乃至政府大肆吹捧，奉為“活著的軍神”。在村民和親族的勸說下，茂子接受了幾乎面目全非的丈夫。殘缺的久藏?zé)o法感知到國內(nèi)外的風(fēng)云變幻，最基本的原欲成為了他迫切的需求?？v使茂子一百個不情愿，她仍要盡到一個做妻子所可能盡到的責(zé)任。在這一過程中，“軍神”和“軍神之妻”那脆弱的虛榮漸漸破滅，她和久藏各自面臨靈魂深處無法回避的痛苦…… 本片根據(jù)江戶川亂步的同名短篇小說改編，并榮獲2010年柏林國際電影節(jié)銀熊獎最佳女主角獎（寺島忍）。
