青山重治（石橋凌飾）失去愛妻，多年后他將兒子撫養(yǎng)成人。生活解壓，長久以來的獨身孤寂促使他渴望尋找生命第二春。身為電視制作人的朋友吉川（國村隼飾）聽后很樂意幫忙老友，專門為他策劃一場選取女演員的視聽會——實際是想在眾多女孩當中蒞選青山的心中佳人。青山看中一個曾練習芭蕾很久，但因傷失去成名機會的女孩山崎麻美（椎名英姬飾）。由于經(jīng)歷相似，兩人在視聽會上產(chǎn)生共鳴。之后日子里彼此數(shù)次約會，感情融洽，一切看似美好，但在一夜歡愉過后，麻美突然從青山身邊消失。青山瘋狂地四下尋找，但在尋找的過程中也驚恐地發(fā)現(xiàn)麻美一些不為人知的過去。終于兩人再次重逢，但一切卻變得緊張恐怖起來。

With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
