張柏芝,古天樂,范冰冰,黃偉文,許紹雄,張錦程,黃浩然,毛堅月娥（張柏芝）是宋朝年間的烈女，武功了得，行俠仗義，追求專一的愛情和婚姻。一日在演詩會上偶遇一表人才的陳季常（古天樂），二人互生情愫。碰巧皇上為二人賜婚，成全了美好姻緣。但是考驗二人感情的時候才剛剛開始——月娥為管住夫君，對季常管束甚嚴。但適得其反，季常在風流好友蘇軾（許紹雄）的帶領(lǐng)下經(jīng)常去尋花問柳。月娥萬般無奈，幸好用計試探，終得知季常仍深愛自己。但是，當月娥外出歸來，卻發(fā)現(xiàn)季常舊病復發(fā)，竟搭上了郡主（范冰冰）。月娥悲憤交加，喝下了忘情水。

A magical world of baroque submarines and sailing ships, killer octopus, undersea bicycles dazzles audiences as human actors, puppetry, animation and fanciful scenic design interact to create a cinematic experience that is unique by any standards. Mixing slapstick comedy, action adventure pacing and Mélies style film magic, this little known Czechoslovakian gem transcends the juvenile literature at its source to create cinematic art of the highest order....

The duo become a trio as well-to-do Lou joins them, and life on the island takes shape under the command of devout Matron. The trio rail against the system, dubious of the benevolence of the bible and taking refuge in their blossoming friendship. It’s hard to reform girls who don’t believe they need reforming. However, a sense of doom settles in when experimental forms of punishment take place in the dead of night. Nellie and Daisy plot rebellion, but unexpectedly find themselves at odds with Lou, who is afraid to break the rules.
