But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

南相美,柳承龍在首爾求學(xué)的女大學(xué)生康喜真（南相美 飾）每日奔波勞碌，疲憊不堪。這日她接到母親的電話，竟得知妹妹邵真（沈恩京 飾）失蹤，下落不明。她匆匆趕回老家，然而母親執(zhí)迷不悟，以為只靠虔誠(chéng)的祈禱邵真就能返回家中。面對(duì)母親的麻木，喜真只得報(bào)警，但警官泰煥（柳承龍 飾）只將其當(dāng)作一般的離家出走處理。 不久，一個(gè)女子在喜真家的窗前吊頸并墜樓而死。泰煥從死者房間找到一封遺書(shū)，其中甚至提到邵真的名字。泰煥無(wú)法從喜真母親那里得到任何線索，只得從小區(qū)管理員那里探知線索。卻得知邵真竟一曾被鬼附身，整個(gè)案件開(kāi)始朝著詭異的方向發(fā)展……
