　　艾琳·格蘭特（黛咪·摩爾DemiMoore飾），一位因沒有穩(wěn)定工作和收入而失去女兒撫養(yǎng)權(quán)的單身媽ccc。深愛著女兒的艾琳，不想把女兒留給無賴前夫達(dá)雷爾·格蘭特（羅伯特·帕特里克RobertPatrick飾），只能每晚都去佛羅里達(dá)的一家酒吧里跳脫衣舞賺錢，以爭回領(lǐng)養(yǎng)權(quán)?！　『蒙膰鴷h員戴維·迪爾貝克（伯特·雷諾茲BurtReynolds飾）是迷戀她的客人之一。一晚，艾琳被一個酒鬼糾纏。戴維上前用酒瓶痛打了那個酒鬼。然而這一幕卻被艾琳的一個迷戀者拍下，不僅戴維的身份隨之暴露，戴維也開始遭受他的惡意敲詐。然而沒過多久，敲詐者就被人謀殺，溺尸水塘。警探加西亞（阿曼德·阿山特ArmandAssante飾）奉命偵辦此案。在抽絲剝繭的調(diào)查過程中，一連串的意外事件也隨之而來。
