 盛夏的度假時節(jié)，一位城市女人來到鄉(xiāng)下滯留，這期間，城市女人誘惑了當?shù)氐霓r(nóng)夫并教唆他殺死自己的妻子（Janet Gaynor 飾）以便販賣掉農(nóng)莊后私奔。被迷惑了心竅的男人早已忘記了那些同妻子共處的純美時光，他將妻子帶到河面蓄謀加害，卻在要下毒手時幡然悔悟，傷心的妻子踏上了進城的列車，男人窮追不舍一同抵達城市。城市里真正是一片花花世界呵，這對夫妻在街上游走玩樂，在那些小小的玩笑中，甜蜜的冒險中，他們又找回了愛情的美妙共鳴……和好如初的兩人返回鄉(xiāng)村，不料卻在歸途遇上了肆虐的風浪……本片是德國導演茂瑙赴美發(fā)展后拍攝的第一部作品，曾被多家權威媒體評選為默片最佳杰作之一，獲第一屆奧斯卡最佳女演員、攝影等多項褒獎。

攻克柏林

　　Mikheil Chiaureli是斯大林的御用導演，《攻克柏林》長達近五個小時，分上下兩部，處處著重突出最高統(tǒng)帥的高瞻遠矚。影片結(jié)尾，斯大林乘飛機抵達陷落的柏林，接受蘇軍的歡呼。其實這是“藝術虛構(gòu)”。和《斯大林格勒戰(zhàn)役》一樣，這場實際主要由朱可夫?qū)④娭笓]的戰(zhàn)役，影片中絲毫沒有他的影子。當時朱可夫已經(jīng)因為功高震主，被羅織罪名，發(fā)配到烏拉爾軍區(qū)去了，這是1946年的事。這部1949年的電影很自然地就將朱可夫的功勞“藝術虛構(gòu)”到偉大領袖的頭上了?！　∫驗檫@部影片，導演連續(xù)獲得了兩次國家獎金，包括1950年的斯大林獎金。中國觀眾熟悉的《難忘的1919》（1952）也是出自這位導演的手筆。值得一提的是，這兩部影片都是由蘇聯(lián)作曲家肖斯塔科維奇譜曲的。
